EARLY TENDER CALLS
Recommendations:
II is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report COD-014-05 be received; and
2. THAT staff be authorized to advertise and issue tenders in advance of the 2005 Capital
Budget approval for the requirements identified in the body of this report.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
The 2005 Capital Budget is tentatively scheduled for presentation to Council in April, 2005. Due
to the approaching Spring construction season, there are certain capital requirements that
require pre-budget approval to allow tendering to take place as soon as possible.
Pre-budget approval is therefore requested for the items listed below.
Pending Council approval for an early tender call on the items as identified, it is anticipated that
the tenders will be advertised in March. A subsequent report with recommendations for an
award will be presented for approval by Council.

Surface Treatment and Pulverizing $300,000.00
Supply, Haul, Stockpile and Spread Granular "A" $368,000.00
Gravel
The total 2005 budget allocations for Supply, Haul, Stockpile and Spread Granular "A" Gravel
is the same as in 2004, while the 2005 budget allocations for Surface Treatment and
Pulverizing represents a 12% decrease. Both projects are part of the operations department
normal annual operating function.
