FIRE STATION #4, 3289 TRULLS ROAD, COURTICE
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report COD-011-05 be received;
2. THAT the property and building located at Firestation #4,3289 Trulls Road, Courtice,
Ontario be declared surplus;
3. THAT staff be authorized to obtain a property appraisal for the subject property; and
4. THAT staff enter into negotiations with the regional Municipality of Durham for sale of the
subject property, FORTHWITH.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
The completion of the new Courtice Fire Station is scheduied for approximately the end of April.
Consequentiy the existing station will become surplus to the Municipality's needs.
The Emergency Measures Services for the Region of Durham have expressed an interest to
purchase the existing Station 4 and lands.
In accordance with the Municipal Act, once the property has been declared surplus, the
Municipality may first offer it for sale to another level of government without going to public
tender. As the Region of Durham anticipates finalizing their 2005 budget at the end of March, a
forthwith approval is requested to obtain a property appraisal and to commence negotiations of
the sale. Should a satisfactory agreement be reached, a further report authorizing the sale will
be brought forward to Council.
