Res. # By-Law # i MEETING: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 20, 1989 REPORT #: WD-84-89 FILE #: W&JECT: AMENDMENT TO BY-LAW 75-23 BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE CERTAINS STREETS WITHIN THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE AS "THROUGH HIGHWAYS" LAKE ROAD - FORMER TOWN OF BOWMANVILLE i RECOMMIENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report WD-84-89 be received; 2. THAT Lake Road be designated as a through highway with Port Darlington Road as a Stop condition at Lake Road, and Lake Road off ramp as a Yeild condition. 3. THAT the amending by-law attached to Report WD-84-89 be passed by Council; and 4. THAT the Town Clerk forward it to the Regional Clerk for the Region's consideration and approval. REPORT I 1. BACKGROUND 2.1 During the summer of 1989 a construction project was undertaken in IoxmnauvilIe south of Highway 40I at the curve where Lake Road joins Port Darlington Road. (Attachment 0o.1) The purpose of this project was to extend Lake Road into the new industrial poch to the east of Port Darlington Road. 2~2 To accomplish this extension it was necessary to create m realignment of these two roads. � 3. COMMENTS � � 3.1 Due to the new road alignment it is now necessary to create a stop condition on Port Darlington Road northbound as it meets Lake Road (see Attachment Nm.2) . � | 3^2 Lake Road has been constructed as the through road with an off-ramp which will allow traffic which is eastbound on Lake Road to easily tocu south onto Port Darlington Road. This off-ramp will be controlled by a Yield Glgo~ | 4.
