BACKGROUND 1.0 At a meeting of the General Purpose and Administration Committee held on December 12, 1988, the following resolution was passed. "THAT the Director of Public Works review and report back to the General Purpose and Administration Committee on the feasibility of the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Taunton Ibad at Mitchell's Corners." 1021 2 , ' REPORT 0O. : VD-6I-89 PAGE 2 ________________________________________________________________________________ 2.1 The Works Department of the Region was asked to review the intersection of Taunton Road (Regional Road 4) and Regional Road 34 for compliance with their mazcauto for traffic signals. 2.2 The Region of Durham advised that the intersection was reviewed in 1986 and 1987 and the warrants for traffic signals were only 50& fulfilled (refer to Attachment 0U.3) . The Region will review the intersection as pact of their spring program. Council will be advised of their findings when they are received. 3. RECMENDATIONS � 3.1 It is, therefore, recommended that this report be received for information. It would be appreciated if you would review the warrants, etc, for the traffic signals at these two intersections and provide me with your findings. I will then report your findings to the Council of the Town of Newcastle. Attached is a petition signed by the residents of the Community of Hamton regarding he intersection at Taunton Road and Old Scugog Road. Your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Theses intersections were analyzed in 1986 and 1987. At that time, minimum warrants for signals were only 50 per cent fulfilled.
