SUUCT: DUST AND SAFETY CONCERNS ON RUDELL ROAD
RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following;
1. THAT Report WD--35°89 be received for information.
1.0 BACKGROUND AND REPORT
1.1 On February 20, 1989 the General Purpose and Administration Committee
passed the following resolution:
"THAT staff be directed to review and prepare a report
for Council pertaining to dust and safety concerns on
Rudell Road."
1.2 On February 20, 1989, Public Works Staff reviewed the condition of
Rudell Road and Highway ##2 in the vicinity of the NewHaven Estates
Development (see Attachment #1) and found the roads to be clear of any
obstructions, the driving surface was bare and maintained in a
satisfactory manner.

1.3 The Developer's consultant was also contacted on February 20' 1989 and
advised that there was concern raised over the condition of both
Rudell Road and Highway #2.
1.4 In this development the builder has o rubber tire bankboe on site, that
is dedicated to maintaining these street clear of mod and debris.
I^5 The streets are monitored on a daily basis by the developer's consultant,
the builder and and Public Works Departments and are cleared using the
rubber tire baokbVe noted in section 1.4, as required.
1.6 During a mild period of timer as has recently occurred, the mud being
tracked onto the streets is impossible to prevent and a consistent monitoring
practice is the best alternative.
2°0 RECOMMENDATION
2°I Public Works Staff will eudevour to ensure that all streets affected by
the development are kept clear of any obstructions and maintained in a
satisfactory manner.
3.2 It is, therefore, recommended that this report be received and that the
Public Works Department onutiooe monitoring the condition of the roads
in and surrounding the 0evHaneu Estates Development.
