By-Law # MEETING: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION MEETING IATE: MARCH 6, 1989 REPORT #: wn-34-89 FILE #: SUB.ECT: RICHARD PURROTI''S CONCERN OF DRAINAGE ON MCCALLUM STREET RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report WD-34-89 be received; and 2. THAT a copy of this report be sent to Mr. Richard Purrott, R.R. #1, Hampton, Ontario, LOB 1MO. REPORT 1.0 BACKGROUND 1.1 At a meeting of the General Purpose and Administration Committee held on September 6, 1988 the following Resolution #GPA-605°88 was passed: "THAT' the delegation of Richard Purrott with respect to water drainage of new lots being developed on McCallum Street, Hampton be referred to the Director of Public Works for a subsequent report- to the General Purpose and Administration Committee; and THAT Mr. Purrott be advised of Council's decision." ..-.2 Page 2 WD-34-89 1.2 Mr. Porrott expressed concerns regarding drainage from his sump pump and the inability for the ditches on McCallum Street to convey this drainage efficiently, especially during the winter nmotbo when the ditches are vulnerable to icing. 1.3 During the time in which Public works Staff were reviewing Mr. Puzcott'a 0000ecu, a development of the lands on the east side of King Street was proposed. This development included a realignment of the drainage course that provided an outlet for the drainage of McCallum Street and 08c. Poczott"a oVunezu. 1.4 Upon reviewing this development proposal in conjunction with drainage oouoeroa on McCallum Street, staff have proposed a 300 mm perforated drainage tile from McCallum Street easterly, to qutfalI at the BnwmauviIIe Creek (refer to &tanbmeut No.I) . 1.5 In principle the proposal will function to provide an outlet for the sump pump of the homes on McCallum Street and secondly to assist in drainage of the ditches and the bed of the drainage course. I^6 During the negotiation with the developer of the lands on the east aide of King Street, the developer agreed to onootrm:t the 300 mm drainage tile from the west property line of King Street to the outlet at the BovanauviIle Creek. I"7 The Town's portion of this project commences from the west property line on King Street westerly to McCallum Street" The works involved are the extension of the drainage tile/ regrading of the drainage course and regrading of ditches and the installation of a tile on McCallum Street to provide an outlet for 000p pumps. . . .3 100 � Page 3 WD-34-89 1.8 Provision has been made in the 1989 Capital Budget for $45,000 for the construction of the drainage tile. 2.0 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION 2.1 The proposed drainage the will provide a solution to Mr. Purrott's concern and also assist in the drainage of the area and the drainage course. 2.1 It is, therefore, recommended that this report be received and a copy of this report be sent to Mr. Purrott.
