THAT WD-14-89 be received; and 2 < THAT provision be made in the 1989 Capital Budget and Four Year Forecast , for Council ' s consideration, for the reconstruction of Ontario Street from King Street to Liberty Street in 1989; and 3 < THAT a copy of this report be forwarded to all those who attended the Information Centre held on October 27 , 1988. 1 . 0 ATTACHMENTS No. 1 : Drawing showing the location of the project . No. 2 : Copy of the Register from the Information Centre. 2 . 0 BACKGROUND 2 . 1 Provision was made in the 1988 Capital Budget and Four Year Forecast for the design in 1988 and the construction in 1989 of Ontario Street from King Street to Liberty Street . 2 i Page 2 WD-14-89 3 . 0 INFORMATION CENTRE 3 . 1 Our consultants , Totten Sims Hubicki Limited prepared functional plans for the reconstruction of Ontario Street . These plans were reviewed with the public at an Information Centre held on October 27 , 1988 in Courtroom 2 . 3 . 2 The proposed reconstruction includes excavation, granular base, storm sewers , hot-mix paving, curb and gutter and sidewalks . The pavement width is 9. 50 m (31 feet) and since Ontario Street is a collector road sidewalks will be constructed on both sides of the street . 3 . 3 About 16 people attended the Information Centre. The general response was that the project is long overdue. Some of the residents had drainage concerns , and one resident had concerns about parking. These concerns will be addressed during the detailed design. One resident indicated that he would prefer that there be no sidewalk on his side of the street . It was explained that since Ontario Street is a busy street , it is felt that there should be sidewalks on both sides of the street . A copy of the register kept at the Information Centre is attached. 4. 0 COSTS 4. 1 The estimated cost for the reconstruction of Ontario Street from King Street to Liberty Street is $850 , 000 . 00 . 5 . 0 RECOMMENDATION 561 It is recommended that provision be made in the 1989 Capital Budget and Four Year Forecast , for Council ' s consideration, for the reconstruction on Ontario Street in 19898 3 Page 8 WD--14--89 Respectfully submitted, Recommended for presentation to the Committee, s Walter A.
