Director, Department of Community Services DATE: April 16, 1981 SUBJECT: Summer Maintenance Programme Policy A Summer Maintenance Programme Policy in the case of groups affiliated with the Department of Community Services such as Tyrone Athletic Association, Orono Athletic Association etc. who require maintenance of parkland and play equipment for leisure time activities and where the Department of Community Services is using that facility for Town programmes. We feel it is the responsibility of this Department to maintain said properties where applicable for the duration of those programs unless otherwise expressed. I feel the above-mentioned paragraph will protect this Department from any legal implications and also the groups involved. Fanning, R.D.M.R. , Director Department of Community Services DATE: May 13th, 1981 SUBJECT: Summer Maintenance Policy - Respecting Parks, Playgrounds and Sports Fields Various outdoor facilities owned by the Town of Newcastle and the Northumberland & Newcastle Board of Education, and others, are used by the Department of Community Services and by various Organizations for leisure sports activities. To avoid duplication and conflict respecting the maintenance of parks, playgrounds and sports fields, the following policy is recommended:- "THAT the Department of Community Services be responsible for the maintenance of the attached outdoor facilities located within the Town of Newcastle, unless otherwise expressed." RECOMMENDATION:- ( THAT the report of the Director of Community Services dated May 13th, 1981, with respect to establishing of a Summer Maintenance Policy be adopted by the Community Services Committee and forwarded to Council for their approval. W TOWN OF NEWCASTLE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES Park, Cemetery and Outdoor Property of Municipal Buildings The following list consists of the various outdoor facilities maintained by the Community Services Department. In most cases, we just mark the ball diamonds on school property. We use chalk dust for all outdoor facilities and the organization involved are charged $3.50 per bag.
