Council's information. This is not a meeting of Council or Committee.

Members of Council: In accordance with the Procedural By-law, please advise the Municipal Clerk
at clerks@clarington.net, if you would like to include one of these items on the next regular agenda
of the appropriate Standing Committee, along with the proposed resolution for disposition of the
matter. Items will be added to the agenda if the Municipal Clerk is advised by Thursday at noon the
two weeks prior to the appropriate meeting, otherwise the item will be included on the agenda for
the next regularly scheduled meeting of the applicable Committee.
Members of the Public: can speak to an ECCIP item as a delegation. If you would like to be a
delegation at a meeting, please visit the Clarington website.

Reconstruction in the Municipality of Clarington
Temporary Road Closure

The Regional Municipality of Durham is widening and reconstructing Bowmanville Avenue
(Regional Road 57) from Highway 401 to King Street West (Regional Highway 2) in the Municipality
of Clarington. Construction includes grading, paving, drainage improvements, noise barriers,
retaining walls, a pedestrian tunnel, widening and rehabilitation of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City
(CPKC) overhead bridge, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, traffic signals, illumination,
sidewalks, multi-use paths and landscaping.
Construction schedule:
The Region’s contractor, KAPP Infrastructure Ltd., will be constructing the pedestrian tunnel across
Bowmanville Avenue from August 21 to August 24 and August 28 to August 31. Unfavourable
weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Lane restrictions and road closures:
Bowmanville Avenue will be closed from Waverly Road to Aspen Springs Drive on two separate
weekends to accommodate the pedestrian tunnel construction across Bowmanville Avenue. The
first road closure will be from Friday, August 21 at 7 a.m. to Monday, August 24 at 6 a.m.; the
second road closure will be from Friday, August 28 at 7 a.m. to Monday, August 31 at 6 a.m.
Emergency access will be maintained, and local detour routes will be posted in advance.

Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and
vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive
and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are
asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
