Newcastle Community Hall Board

PLEASE NOTE: The next meeting of the Newcastle Hall Board
will be held October 15th,1990 at 7:30 p.m.
The Newcastle Hall Board held their regular meeting after the
summer break on September 17 with R.B.Rickard, B.Adams, N.Hoogkamp,
F.Stapleton, S.Dejong, D.Hamre and D.Mace present.
A motion by D.Hamre and seconded by N.Hoogkamp that the minutes of
the last meeting be adopted as read. - CARRIED
OLD BUSINESS: R.B.Rickard attend meeting at Bowmanville.
The lease has been sent to the Masonic Lodge but
to date they have not returned same.
The new gas furnace will be working by the 15th Sept.
The oil bill submitted in the summer has been given
to F.Horvath Hor_ vath - all the oil was filtered out when
the digging for the new furnace was started.
CORRESPONDENCE: Letter from the Law firm Lycett & Cureatz with a
proposal for renting the South East wing.
TIe above was discussed at length and it was decided to accept the
proposal with the following changes:
1. The rent would be subject to inflationary annual increases.
2. No sub -leases
3. L.shaped sign - Parking & Law office chambers, Paragraph 9,
was scratched, if at some future date and there was a proven
need this would be reconsidered.
4. Sign to be placed above Bulletin Board.
A motion by S. Dejong and seconded by N.Hoogkamp that the proposal
be accepted with amendments as stated above. - CARRIED
BILLS: A motion by F. Stapleton and seconded by D.Adams that all
bills be paid - CARRIED
TREASURER'S REPORT: A motion by"F.Stapleton and seconded by
N. Hoogkamp that the report be accepted - CARRIED
NEW BUSINESS:
1. A delegation from Mom's Morning Group attended the meeting.
Mrs.Allen spoke for the group about their request for a
resource centre to be located in the rooms which will be
available in 1991. They are looking for free accommodation
but the Committee informed them that they are looking for a
fee and suggested that they look at the downstairs rooms which
are available right now.
A motion as to the above suggestions was moved by D.Hamre and
seconded by S.Dejong - CARRIED
2.. R.B.Rickard to contact the Town Treasur regarding the balance
of our grant.
3. No emergency lights coming on. Fire department to check.

4. Ceiling falling down - all plaster is loose. Suggested.
that F.Horvath examine.
5. Orono Fiddlers Club want to hold a fund raising night for
the Tornado victims for a rental of $5O.OO. This was to be
discussed by Council.
6. F. Couch has resigned - looking for another Council member.
7. Caretaker not doing his job well. Suggested we give him
3 months and then evaluate his job.
8. R.B.Rickard to look into price of a new vacuum cleaner.
