4.President’s report:
In the past year, Valentine has had heart surgery he is feeling better, and
has been recovery well. He is back to work and back to the BIA meetings,
we are happy to have him back!
There has been some parking lot issues behind Lovekin Law and
Studio37. The lot is under construction for paving and possibly restricting
access between the businesses and streets. The BIA is concerned how
this will affect the street scape closures.
5.Treasurer’s Report:
The current bank balance is $63,986.59

7.Committee Reports
Safety and Decor:
-James will hang the Parade over the street banners the beginning of
November.
-Tracey will replace Harvest Festival event boards with the parade signs.
-Bloomfield Garden Centre is offering the “Pot Club” planters to BIA for
any future seasonal planters, go to their website for more information and
pricing. They will be doing the 4 planters at both Beaver Street and King/
Mill St. For Christmas this year.
-The Holiday Snowflake lights will be installed Monday, November 10th.
Advertising:
We will share the Holiday events poster with the BIA to print and hang in
their windows. Marni will get some posters printed at Staples for the
parade committee to post around Newcastle.

Special Events:
Harvest Festival (Saturday, October 4th, 9-3pm)
The festival was a great success. We have no idea of exact numbers in
attendance but over 8000 approximately. Revenue was around $4000.00.
We had 17 BIA businesses participate at the festival. The vendors were
very happy at the end of the day. The community showed lots of interest
in the event.
Community Hall Lighting (Sunday, November 16th, 5:15pm)
Will start working on the tree and parkette over the next couple of weeks.
Santa Parade (Sunday, November 16th, 5:30pm)
Karen Bastas is back as the Chairperson. BIA businesses can contact
her if they wish to sponsor. The floats are being booked, meeting with
DRPS for planning.
Santa Breakfast (Sunday, November 30th, 8-11am)
Event planning is happening.
8. CBOT:
CBOT is hosting a Career Fair, October 24th. Check out their website for
all their upcoming events and information.
9. CIP/Economic Development/Street Scape:
-DRPS is moving forward with the CCTV program in Newcastle. We will
share a joint communication to the community and BIA businesses
explain how the program works.
-Losing the downtown recycling is still moving forward. The Region has
shared no feedback. Laura will keep us updated.
-A CIP review is underway at the Municipality. A consultant has been
hired and working on research now.
-No street scape update.
10. Newcastle & District Chamber of Commerce:
-The Chamber Home Show is returning May 24, 2026. Businesses can
register on the website.
-The Chamber has donated the tickets for the Santa Breakfast to the BIA,
thank you!
