SUBJECT: ROAD INSPECTION TOUR - 1988
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. That this report be received; and,
2. That the 1988 Road Inspection Tour be arranged for Friday,
April 22nd 1988 and Friday, April 29th 1988, and that all Members
of Council and the Press, be invited to attend; and,
3. That Members of Council advise the Public Works Department of
any areas of concern or particular interest, before April 8th,
1988, in order that they may be included in the itinerary of the
Tour; and,
4. That all costs associated with the Tour be taken from the
1988 Public Works Budget.

BACKGROUND
Members of the General Purpose and Administration Committee considered
Works Department Report WD-4-88 and Resolution GPA-151-88 referred the
matter back to the Public Works Department for a subsequent report and
proposed dates for the Tour changed to April 22nd and April ' 29th.
REPORT
The Public Works Department is in the process of arranging the Road
Inspection Tour to review areas of concern, particularly spring breakup.
In the past, the Tour has been arranged for two consecutive days,
however, this year, to accommodate schedules of Council Members, it has
been requested that the Tour be arranged for two Fridays, specifically
April 22nd and April 29th.
A small bus or window van will be obtained and the tour will commence
from the Fire Building at 9:00 a.m. each day. It is suggested that the
Town Administrator and the Public Works Department Adminstrative
Assistant be invited to join Members of Council on this tour.

In order that the itinerary can be prepared, Councillors are requested
to submit a request to view any areas of particular interest or concern
to the Public Works Department on the attached sheet not later than
April 8th.
Members of the Press are cordially invited to join Members of Council
and staff in the 1988 Town of Newcastle Road Inspection Tour.
