That the special spring refuse collection within the designated areas of Bowmanville, Courtice, Newcastle Village, and Orono, be scheduled for the week beginning Monday, May 2, 1988; and, 3. That all special refuse pickup be accommodated on the regular refuse pickup day; and, 4. That a notice be placed in the local newspapers advising of same. . . .2 PAGE 2 REPORT NO: WD-5-88 BACKGROUND AND REPORT: Each year, it has been the practice of the Public Works Department to arrange for a special spring refuse collection to enable residents within the areas receiving Town collection service to dispose of items not normally collected during regular weekly pickup. By-Law 82-184, being a by-law to regulate the collection of refuse stipulates that Coucill, by resolution, may establish dates for Clean-up Week collection services. i In order to provide an efficient and effective pickup, residents will be expected to place any additional items to be disposed of along with their regular refuse. All refuse will be picked up on the normal collection day. It is, therefore, recommended that Clean-up Week in the Town of Newcastle be May 2, 1988 to May 6, 1988, and that all special refuse pickups be accommodated on the normal refuse pickup day. Recycling of newspapers will be accommodated as usual. Respectfully submitted, Recommended for presentation to the Committee, 1 Ole Y Walter A. Evans, P. Eng., Lawrence E.
