SUBJECT: SPECIAL SPRING GARBAGE COLLECTION
VILLAGE OF NEWCASTLE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended :
1 . That the special springtime garbage collection , within the
collection area of the (former) Village of Newcastle, be
provided on Thursday, May 5, 1983, and ,
2. That the contractor operating regular garbage collection
services in the above area be notified of the date for the
special spring service, and ,
3. That a notice be placed in the local newspaper to advise
citizens of the Special Spring Garbage Collection for the
Village of Newcastle.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
As Members of Committee are aware, garbage collection services for
the Village of Newcastle are provided by a contractor retained by
the Town. The contract (T82-12) specifies that the contractor must
provide a special spring garbage collection service, in addition
to regular weekly pickup services. Normal collection in the Village iJ

of Newcastle is performed on Thursdays each week; the recommended
date of Thursday, May 5, 1983 , would enable the contractor to
undertake the special service in conjunction with his usual rounds ,
thereby causing the least disruption to his weekly routine and
operations.
