REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF APRIL 5, 1983.
REPORT NO: WD-31-83.
SUBJECT: SPECIAL SPRING GARBAGE COLLECTION -
VILLAGE OF ORONO.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended :
1 . That a special springtime garbage collection , within the
collection area of the (former) Village of Orono, be provided
on Wednesday, May 4, 1983 , and ,
2. That the contractor operating the regular garbage collection
services in the area be notified of the date for the special
spring service, and ,
3. That a notice be placed in the local newspaper to advise
citizens of the Special Spring Garbage Collection for the
Village of Orono.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:

Included in the terms of Contract T82-12, with Regional Reclaimers
Limited , is the stipulation that the contractor must provide one
i
special garbage collection service in the spring of the year. This
is to allow residents to dispose of overweight , oversized or unusual
waste/refuse which would not be collection during normal services.

The regular service for garbage collection is provided in the
Village of Orono on Wednesdays each week. It is felt that the
contractor will be better able to perform his regular services
elsewhere by combining a regular collection with the special
spring pick-up, thereby causing the least possible disruption
to his normal routine.
