BACKGROUND AND REPORT:
In accordance with Resolution C-205-83, Public Works staff
have reviewed the Bowmanville Business Centre's request to
place signs indicating that bicycle riding on sidewalks is
prohibited in the downtown area. By-law 80-36, being a
by-law to regulate residents owning and using bicycles in
the Town of Newcastle, clearly designates the areas where
bicycle riding is prohibited.
Signs previously erected in Bowmanville have been vandalized
and removed over the years. It is recommended that the
signs be replaced in accordance with the 1983 Budget
allocation for Street Signs, Bowmanville.
Respecfully submitted,
R.G. Dupuis, P. Eng. ,
Director of Public Works.
