SUBJECT: ANNUAL SIDEWALK SALE, MAY 25, 26, 27, 1983 , SPONSORED BY THE BOWMANVILLE BUSINESS CENTRE. RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended: 1 . That Report WD-32-83 be received; and , 2. That, conditional upon the Bowmanville Business Centre acquiring the necessary Road Occupancy Permits , in compliance with Town Policy and By-Law 83-32, approval be given to the proposal to hold a Sidewalk Sale on May 25, 26, and 27, 1983; and , 3. That Temperance Street , from King Street, south , to the north side of St. John's Anglican Church property, be closed to accommodate the event. BACKGROUND AND REPORT: I Each year the Bowmanville Business Centre sponsors a Sidewalk j Sale and requests the Town' s permission to close a section of Temperance Street for the duration of the event. i i a WD-32-83 _ 2 - Upon receipt of the request , the Public Works Department asked the Fire Chief for input relative to the staging of the event, and , conditional upon there being a seventeen foot (17 ft. ) wide throughway being established to accommodate the movement of emergency vehicles, if necessary, approval has been given. In compliance with the Policy in respect of Road Occupancy for Special Events , the Bowmanville Business Centre must obtain Permits to cover the duration of the Sidewalk Sale. The Public Works Department will offer any practical assistance required to achieve the success of the Annual Sidewalk Sale. Respectfully submitted, X4. R.G. Dupuis , P. John ' s Anglican Church property , and , j 3 ) that where the sidewalk tends to narrow on King Street , that the merchants be permitted to place their tables on the roadway next to the curb , in order to facilitate the flow of pedestrian traffic on the, sidewalk �i We would be pleased if you would ask Council to approve these arrangements . Aldridge, Deputy Chief DATE; March 22, 1983 SUBJECT; Concerns related to the closing of streets for a parade and sidewalk sale Our File: 56.2.105 This Department has been in contact with parade organizers and sees no difficulties in the proposed parade route. As in the past, the Fire Department pre-arranges to locate a firefighting vehicle and crew at the east and west ends of Town. Each crew is in radio contact and is able to respond where needed. For the sidewalk sale and temporary road closure a fire route of 17' in width would be required for emergency vehicles. i I J. Aldridge.
