REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF JULY 4, 1983.
REPORT NO: WD-62-83.
SUBJECT: LAND REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF
HIGHWAY 35/115.
PART LOT 27, CONCESSION 5 , FORMER CLARKE.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . That this report be received; and ,
2. That approval be given to the proposal of the Ministry
of Transportation & Communications to purchase three
areas of land required to accommodate the reconstruction
of Highway 35/115 , in Part Lot 27, Concession 5 , former
Township of Clarke, more specifically described as Part
9 , Plan P-2390-70 and Parts 2 & 3 , Plan P-2390-71 ; and,
3. That the appraised value of the lands in the amount of
$1 ,315. 00 (One Thousand Three Hundred and Fifteen Dollars)
be accepted , and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to
execute the Property Purchase Agreement prior to August
9, 1983 , as requested by the Ministry,
REPORT:
By letter dated June 8, 1983 , the Ministry of Transportation &
Communications has advised of their requirements of three small
areas of land , presently in the ownership of the Town of Newcastle.

The three parcels of land have been appraised by Ministry Staff,
and details are as follows :

Part 9 , Plan P-2390-70 is located in the area of Cobbledick and
Station Streets , Orono, and is required in connection with the
intersection of Highway 35/115 and Cobbledick Street.
Parts 2 & 3 , Plan P-2390-71 are two areas along the easterly
limits of the property occupied by the Public Works Department

Orono Depot, and are required for lane widening (turning lane)
at the approach to the intersection of the highway with Taunton
Road. The Agreement,' and Plan- sections, are attached' hereto.
TheAgreement in respect of the above land acquisition is open
for acceptance until August 9, 1983, and the Ministry has stated
it wishes the sales of the lands to be completed on or before
September 8, 1983.
