REPORT NO. : WD® 63®83
SUBJECT: CONTRACT FOR CRUSHED GRAVEL
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. That this report be received; and,
2. That Staff be authorized to advertise tenders for the
crushing and delivery of granular materials to the
Town of Newcastle, in accordance with the 1982 Road
Maintenance and Construction Budget; and,
3. That the supply of pit run gravel for crushing be
obtained from the Kovacs Pit and the Reid Pit, at the
unit prices quoted, as well as from the Town-owned
Pit in Part Lot 16, Concession 2, former Township of
Clarke.
BACKGROUND AND REPORT
Each year the Public Works Department calls tenders for the
crushing and delivery of gravel , to be spread on Town roads,
and stockpiled in the various Works Yards, as required. The
gravel for crushing is obtained from local gravel pits, as
close as possible to the construction site, in an attempt to
minimize haulage costs.

supplied from each of the three gravel pits.

charged are as follows:

It is expected that the successful tenderer will commence
crushing and delivery early in September, 1983.
