Ththat at the Town of Newcastle accept back into its road sy stem easterly to So portion of the South Service Road from CouSiceoRoad from the Station 43 +20, and, that portion of South ery controlled access ramp at Waverley Road westerly to Station 13 +50; and, That the Ministry of Transportation and Communications retain 3. illumination and responsibility for all existing street lighting, traffic warning lights; and, That the Ministry of Transportation and Communications District 4' Engineer, Port Hope District, be so advised. ....2 Page 2 Report No. WD -34 -86 BACKGROUND AND REPORT: in 1980, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications accommodate sassumedcerain portions of the existing South Service Road from the Tow reconstruction, upgrading and widening of Highway 401. Following construction, Public Works was reluctant to recommend assumption as certain deficiencies and problems were evident, specifically, the maintenance and energy costs associated with the maintenance of street lights and warning lights installed by the Ministry on these sections of road. However, the Ministry have now agreed to retain the responsibility with respect to lights, therefore, it is in order for the Town to formally accept these sections of South Service Road back into its road system.
