RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. That Report WD -89 -86 be received; and,
2. That the westerly limit of the 50 km /h speed zone on Concession Road 6
through the Hamlet of Solina be relocated to a point 60 metres
(approximately 200 feet) west of the Eldad United Church; and,
3. That the membership of the Eldad United Church be requested to
reorganize their parking arrangements to assist in improving the
safety of the area of concern.

A dangerous traffic situation has been identified at the Eldad United Church
just west of the Hamlet of Solina on the Concession Road Six. The increase
in traffic along Concession Road 6 has been making the situation even more
critical and it is felt that extending the 50 km /h speed zone to a location
just west of the church and enlisting the aid of the police with respect to
enforcement will help to lower the dangers in this area.
The membership of the Eldad United Church should be encouraged to
investigate alternative parking arrangements as even with a reduced legal
speed limit through this area the dangers will persist. As a minimum
requirement, the parking on the south side of the roadway should be changed
to parallel parking rather than the right angled parking currently being
practised.
It is recommended that the 50 km /h speed zone be extended west to include
the area in front of the Eldad United Church as requested in the petition.

At a regular meeting of Council held on Tuesday, October 14, 1986, the
following resolution was passed:
"That the petition signed by residents of the Hamlet of
Solina, to reduce the speed limit on the Sixth Concession
Road westerly from.Farewell Creek to the E1dad Church
property, be received, and referred to the Director of
Public Works for review and subsequent report,"
