REPORT #: WD- 100 -86 FILE #: SUB'ECT: NASH ROAD - VARCOE ROAD RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended: That Report WD- 100 -86 be received for information. REPORT: On or about September 22nd, 1986, the installation of services to serve Schleiss & Holland, Phase IV, commenced. At that time the restoration (including asphalt paving) of Nash Road from Townline to Varcoe Road and Varcoe Road from Highway # 2 to Centrefield Drive was scheduled to be completed in late November or early December. ...2 Page 2 Report No. WD- 100 -86 Due to delays caused by the excessive amount of inclement weather being experienced this fall, the relatively early onset of winter weather, and problems experienced due to the high water table which was caused by the wet summer, it is now not possible to pave Nash Road or Varcoe Road. Until the storm which took place on Tuesday, December 9, 1986, there was still a hope that some paving could be completed, however, the conditions are now such that to have any assurance that we will not lose the asphalt even as early as next spring, the asphalt paving must be postponed until the spring of 1987. Town staff and the developer, his engineer and his contractor, have agreed that throughout the winter months the Town will perform winter maintenance on the roads in question and the contractor will grade and level the gravel surface as required. The condition of Nash Road and Varcoe Road will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that the surface is maintained in as good a condition as possible. A letter will be delivered to the residents explaining the revised paving schedule and winter arrangements. RespecWlly submitted, Gordon J. Ough, P. Eng., Director of P blic Works.
