Subject: AMENDMENT TO SIGN BY -LAW
ENNISKILLEN UNITED CHURCH
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD -70 -96 be received for information.
2. THAT the attached Amendment to the Sign By -law be approved.
1. BACKGROUND:
1.1 Enniskillen United Church trustees have requested relief from the Sign by -law
provisions to erect an "Identification Sign" in excess of the size permitted, to
name and identify the church and to convey messages regarding church
services. Copy of request, sign details and proposed location is attached.
1.2 Sign By -law 76 -25 in Sec 6(2)(b)(v) permits a maximum sign area of four (4) square
feet in residential zones.
1.3 The proposed sign is twenty (20) square feet, five (5) feet wide and four (4) feet high.
The maximum height is five and a half (5 1/2) feet from the ground and the sign will
be illuminated from within. Illumination of the interchangeable portion will be difussed
so as not to create a nuisance to the adjacent residential property owners. Staff is of

BY -LAW NUMBER 96-
being a By -law to amend By -law 76 -25, as amended, being the Municipality of Clarington
Comprehensive Sign By -law.
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington deems it
appropriate to amend By -law 76 -25.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Corporation of the
Municipality of Clarington enacts as follows;
Notwithstanding any applicable provision of By -law 76 -25, an illuminated ground
sign having an area of twenty (20) square feet is permitted at the Enniskillen
United Church, 7793 Old Scugog Road.
BY -LAW read a first time this day of 1996.
BY -LAW read a second time this day of 1996.
BY -LAW read a third time and finally passed this day of 1996.
