1. Land Acknowledgement
Jeannette shared Clarington’s Land Acknowledgement Statement.
2. Review of Agenda - Declarations of Interest
Members were asked if they would like to declare any items of interest. No concerns
were shared.
Moved by Joe Adesanya Seconded by Rochelle Thomas
That the agenda of the October 4 meeting be approved.

3. Review of Previous Meeting Minutes
Members reviewed the minutes of the September 13th, 2023 meeting.
Moved by Joseph Adesanya, Seconded by Rochelle Thomas
That the minutes of the September 13th meeting be approved.

4. Election of Co-Chair
Moved by Rochelle Thomas, seconded by Agnela Todd -Anderson
That Joseph Adesanya be appointed the co -chair of the Anti-Black Racism Task
Force.
Carried
5. Task Force Meeting Schedule
Members were asked if there was a preference to the day/time for future meetings.
Members mutually agreed that the first Wednesday of the month works, but they
would like the meeting to start at 7:00pm instead of 6:00pm.
6. Terms of Reference
Members revisited their previous discussion on updating the Task Force’s Terms of
Reference. Members indicated that they felt the Task Force’s Terms of Reference
should include wording that ensures members are representative of the Task Force’s
name. After a discussion the following motion was made:
Moved by Nadia Nembhard-Hunt and seconded by Angela Thomson,
That the Terms of Reference for the Anti-Black Racism Task Force’s Terms of
Reference be updated to require that the majority of members identify as Black, and
priority be given to Black applicants.

7. Goal Setting
Deferred to future meeting. Committee members requested that past achievements
be shared with them. Some previous achievements were highlighted by previous
members. Jeannette will gather more information and share it with the group before
the next meeting.
8. AppleFest
Jeannette provided information to members about AppleFest in downtown
Bowmanville on Saturday October 14th from 9am-5pm. Space will be shared with the
Diversity Advisory Committee and the Accessibility Advisory Committees. Members
are encouraged to attend, even for an hour, to share the work of the various
committees with the community.
Jeannette will provide additional information, including sign up, closer to the event.
9. Other Business
Jeannette advised that there is a micro-grant opportunity related to community safety
from the Region of Durham. Information will be emailed to members and if they have
any project ideas they would like to put forward, they can be emailed to Jeannette by
October 11 at 12:00pm. Suggestions will be considered by the Diversity Advisory
Committee.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:26pm.
