THAT Report PD -18 -97 be received for information. 1. BACKGROUND 1.1 In December 1995, the Municipality received a request from Victoria County and Manvers Township to consider changing the street name of Darlington /Manvers Boundary Road to Burton Road, and Clarke /Manvers Boundary Road to New Park Road. The request was forwarded to Council and the matter was referred to the Planning Department for a report. 1.2 Staff contacted the Region of Durham to determine whether the street names proposed by Victoria County were available. The Region advised that Burton Street was not available, but that New Park Road could be reserved for the Municipality. 1.3 On January 31, 1996, Planning Staff advised Victoria County that the street name "Burton Street" was not available, and that a new name should be considered. No response to this letter has been received. Im REPORT NO. PD-18-97 PAGE 2 2. FOLLOW-UP 2.1 In January 1997, Staff followed up with a phone call to Victoria County. Victoria County advised that Manvers Township decided to not proceed with the request and that they will continue to use the existing street names.
