Keith nominated Canadian Tire Bowmanville for their exceptional customer service. Page 2 Beatrice nominated Golden Griddle in Newcastle for their commitment to accessibility and creating and inclusive space for people with disabilities. She noted that their patio and ramp are accessible to her and the inside of the building is also accessible. It was noted that this was especially great considering the original building and the space they had to work with. Lesley and Jeannette had previously discussed a few options, incase there were no nominations from Committee members this year. • Spects Optical in Newcastle, for being physically accessible and having great customer service. • Markets Ontario, Bowmanville. While the front of this b usiness is not accessible, there is a great accessible entrance at the back, where they have additional parking for patrons. Inside is also accessible and spacious. • Nooks, Bowmanville. This store was previously inaccessible when it was operated by a different business. There was a single step after entering the front entrance. This retailer ramped that step, making the inside of the business accessible. Inside it spacious and they provide great customer service. After a brief discussion, Committee members were given the opportunity to vote for their choice. 2 votes for Canadian Tire Bowmanville 4 Votes for Newcastle Griddle Jeannette will prepare the nomination form and submit it to the Region on behalf of the Committee. Certificates of nomination will be given to all other businesses nominated so they are aware that the Committee recognizes them. 5.
