Foster, Councillor G. Anderson, Councillor S. Elhajjeh, Councillor W. Woo, Councillor M. Zwart Regrets: Councillor L. Rang, Councillor C. Traill Staff Present: J. Newman _____________________________________________________________________ 1. Call to Order Mayor Foster called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. 2. Land Acknowledgement Statement Councillor Zwart led the meeting in the Land Acknowledgement Statement. 3. Declaration of Interest There were no disclosures of interest stated at this meeting. 4. Welcome Remarks - Erica Mittag, Inclusion, Equity, and Anti-Racism Officer Erica Mittag, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism (IDEA) Officer, welcomed Dave Mowat, outlined their history together and advised Council that this is the start of a new program to teach Council about indigenous, inclusion, anti-racism and accessibility matters. Erica advised Council that tonight they would learn about treaties and the role of Council. Mayor Foster provided a gift to Dave Mowat. Resolution to move into Closed Session for an Education and Training Session for the Members of Council Resolution # GG-133-23 Moved by Councillor Elhajjeh Seconded by Councillor Anderson That, in accordance with Section 239 (3.1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, the meeting be closed for the purpose of a training and education session. Carried 6. Closed Session - Order of Business 6.1 Education Session - Dave Mowat, former Chief of Alderville First Nation and Historian, Regarding an Overview of Treaties (pre-Confederation and Williams Treaties), Indigenous (Aboriginal) Rights and the Impact of Decision Making on Indigenous Communities 7. Rise and Report from Closed Session The meeting resumed in open session at 7:05 p.m. Mayor Foster advised that one item was discussed in “closed” session in accordance with Section 239(3.1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, and no resolutions were passed. Moved by Councillor Woo Seconded by Councillor Elhajjeh That Council rise at 7:05 p.m. Carried 8. Adjournment Resolution # GG-134-23 Moved by Councillor Elhajjeh Seconded by Councillor Zwart That the meeting adjourn at 7:05 p.m. Carried
