Recommendations :
1 . That this report be received.
2 . That the request of Mr. Ian Golder,
Principal of North Courtice Public
School , relative to free pool time
at the Newcastle Fitness Centre be
denied.
Background:
The following is a breakdown of expenses
incurred by the North Courtice Handicapped School
for use of the Fitness Centre .

Feb. & March - 9 hrs. @ $20. 00/hr. = 180. 00
April - 6 hrs. @ $20. 00/hr. = 120 . 00
May - 6 hrs. @ $20 .00/hr. = 120. 00
June - 1 . 5 hrs. @ $20 . 00/hr. = 30. 00
$450. 00
Lifeguard
Feb. & March - .9 hrs. - 1 guard @ $5 . 00/hr. = 45 . 00
April - 6 hrs. - 1 guard @ $5.00/hr. = 30. 00
May - 6 hrs. - 1 guard @ $5 . 00/hr. = 30 . 00
June - 1 . 5 hrs. - 1 guard @ $5. 00/hr. = 7. 50

The school has tentatively requested the
following pool hours for 1981-82 .
October 1 . 5 hrs . @ $20. 00/hr. = 30. 00
November 7. 5 hrs. @ $20. 00/hr. = 150. 00
December 6 hrs. @ $20. 00/hr. = 120. 00
January 6 hrs. @ $20. 00/hr. = 120. 00
February 6 hrs. @ $20 . 00/hr. = 120. 00
March 4. 5 hrs'. @ $20 . 00/hr. = 90. 00
Total 31. 5 hrs. @ $20. 00/hr. =$630. 00
* The school will provide their own lifeguarding
services for their rental periods.

Comment :
Due to budget restraints and restrictions
regarding revenue, I feel the Department is not in
the position to offer services at no charge . Further
if the request was approved, it would set a precedent
for other groups and organizations. Futher we do offer
a reduced rate for School Board rentals.
Pool Rental Rates :
Public Rentals $25. 00/hr.
School Board Rentals $20 . 00/hr.
