REPORT: WD -93 -83
._.0.
Reconstruction of the Newcastle Village Connecting Link has
necessitated modification to sidewalks and some sidewalk
entrances to abutting buildings. One such building is the
Post Office, which building is administered by Public Works
Canada. In the attached correspondence, that agency is
requesting assurance of a continued problem -free entrance
subsequent to modifications thorugh construction.
The entrance has been reviewed in the field and discussed
with the consultant supervising the construction project.
It is felt that the completed work will greatly improve the
original condition. Surface drainage to the respective
lands will be reduced and steps will be eliminated. It is,
therefore, recommended that Public Works Canada be granted
the assurance they have requested in order to permit the
works to proceed.

Re: Newcastle Post Office - Grading, Asphalt and Sidewalk Changes -
Re your letter of $3.10.04.
Canada Post Corporation have reviewed this submission and have
approved.in principle the changes as outlined. However, before
final authorization to proceed will be granted, they will require
a written undertaking from the Corporation of the Town of New-
castle along the lines as follows:
"That any future damages caused to the land and /or building, the
cause of which can be directly attributed to the regrading and
other changes undertaken, will be rectified at the sole and ex-
clusive cost of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle."
Upon receipt of this or a similar acceptable undertaking, Canada
Post will provide formal approval. In the interim, please ensure
that no further work takes place.
Yours truly,
v
