BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: As requested by Council, Councillor R. B. Taylor and the Director of Community Services met with Mr. Don Hamilton and Mr. Ron Farrow of the Newcastle Girls Slow Pitch Association. We met on May 9th, 1984 inl'the committee room of the Bell Building at 7:00 p.m. regarding their request for a Town Grant. Councillor R. B. Taylor and the Director of Community Services informed Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Farrow that the Town has operated this program at a surplus for a number of years and that Council's grant of $700. was to assist in the purchase of equipment for the Association in its first year of independent operation and further that a substantial expansion of the program in 1984 as proposed by the Association, was not in Council's mind when the grants were reviewed at budget time, but that such expansion might take place in 1985 or subsequent years using any surplus funds which the 1984 and subsequent years' operation of the program, might generate, which would accrue to the Association. r • L S, REPORT PLO.
