Description: An ECCIP is an electronic package containing correspondence received by Staff for
Council's information. This is not a meeting of Council or Committee.
Alternate Format: If this information is required in an alternate format, please contact the

Members of Council: In accordance with the Procedural By-law, please advise the Municipal Clerk
at clerks@clarington.net, if you would like to include one of these items on the next regular agenda
of the appropriate Standing Committee, along with the proposed resolution for disposition of the
matter. Items will be added to the agenda if the Municipal Clerk is advised by Wednesday at noon
the week prior to the appropriate meeting, otherwise the item will be included on the agenda for the
next regularly scheduled meeting of the applicable Committee.
Members of the Public: can speak to an ECCIP item as a delegation. If you would like to be a
delegation at a meeting, please visit the Clarington website.

1. Meeting called to order at 9:07 a.m.
2. Approval of March 2023 Minutes

5. Treasurer's Report:
The current bank balance is $108,137. That includes the tax levy from the
Municipality.

Safety & Decor:
The new 100th Celebration banners will be installed on May 8th. Our Spring
planter boxes and large pots will going in this week.

Special Events:
Harvest Festival - The date is set for October 7th. The banners will be hung
over the street this year, promoting the event. The committee will be meeting
soon.
Community Hall Lighting_- The lights have been removed from the Community
Hall and stored until next year.
100th Celebration - They are finalizing their event schedule to include a
comedy show, daytime kids and adult activities, displays and local
performances, pie slices, take away meals from local restaurants, outdoor
stage with bands and musicians and ending the night with fireworks.
King Ave from Mill St to North St will be closed for the event.
There was an informal discussion about the event having a designated bar
area and the BIA fully supports having one.
They are looking for adult volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering
during this event, the commitment would be a 2-3 hour shift. Please email

Concerts in the Park - They are working on finding a tribute band for the BIA to
sponsor, and will let us know as soon as they do. The concerts start June 20th
from 6:30pm-8:OOpm.

9. Chamber News:
Plans are underway for their 50th anniversary celebration on September 23.
Their membership is growing and are up to 94 members. Their business
directory will be coming out in the near future.
10. CIP: n/a
11. New Business:
Bob McCaw and Donna Eastwood from the Village Print Shop have retired
and are moving to Saskatchewan. They wanted to thank the BIA and community
of Newcastle for all the support over the years. The BIA thanks them for being a
part of the business community and helping with all the BIA events over the
years. We wish them the best in retirement.
