CS -24 -85 REPORT #2 OFFICE TELEPHONE 623 -3114 TOLL FREE 987 -5039 40 TEMPERANCE STREET BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO L 1 C 3A6 SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION #51 & #65 - CULTURE AND RECREATION MASTER PLAN. RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended 1. That this report be received; and 2. That Council adopt amendment of Recommendation #51 as recommended by Community Services Planning Board as follows: "That Town funds (including monies received from the Ontario Hydro 'B' impact fund) for the estimated capital works of refurbishment costs for any set of improvements to any existing community hall be judged on an individual merit basis." 3. That Recommendation 65 be amended to read as follows: "That development of the active recreation and playfield site at the Ontario Hydro Darlington Generating Station be considered in the initial planning period for the Master Plan and that the park be jointly developed by the Town, the Newcastle Community Services Planning Board, user groups and Ontario Hydro." 4. That the Newcastle Community Services Planning Board be advised of Council's actions. RAI'Kf;R(lIINf) Recommendation #51 of the Culture and Recreation Master Plan was not adopted by Council as presented at the General Purpose and Administration Committee meeting of January 21, 1985 and was directed back to the Newcastle Community Services Planning Board for reconsideration and recommendation. The Newcastle Community Services Planning Board at it's February 6, 1985 meeting resolved that Recommendation #5.1 be held over until the report comes in from the Sub - Committee re; grant requests for 1985 and that the grant committee consider Recommendation #51." ..2 REPORT NO. CS -24 -85 BACKGROUND: Page 2 The grants committee did not address Recommendation #51; however at the October 2, 1985 Newcastle Community Services Planning Board meeting, under other business, the Recommendation was discussed at length and the following resolution was carried; "That Town funds (including monies received from the Ontario Hydro 'B'impact fund) for the estimated capital works of refurbishment costs for any set of improvements to any existing community hall be judged on an individual merit basis." Recommendation #65 was also referred back to the Newcastle Community Services Planning Board for rewording. This item was dealt with at the February 6, 1985 Newcastle Community Services Planning Board meeting and the following resolution was carried: That Recommendation #65 be amended to read as follows; "That development of the active recreation and playfield site at the Ontario Hydro Darlington Generating Station be considered in the initial planning period for the Master Plan and that the park be jointly developed by the Town, the Newcastle Community Services Planning Board, user groups and Ontario Hydro." It is respectfully recommended that Council adopt Recommendation #51 and #65 as amended by the Newcastle Community Services Planning Board.
