That advertisements of the road closures and detours be placed in the local newspapers; and, 6. That arrangements for placement and removal of barriers and signs be as in 1983, between the Works Department and the Bowmanville Business Centre; and, 7. Similar events have been held in previous years and arrangements made between the Bowmanville Business Centre and Works Department have worked out quite satisfactorily. These are outlined in the recommendations to this report. It is, therefore, recommended that Town concurrence with the Bowmanville Business Centre sidewalk sale be granted. Oakes Town Clerk Town of Newcastle 40 Temperance Street Bowmanville, Ontario Dear Mr. Oakes P.O. BOX 365 BOWMANVILLE, ONT. L1C 3L1 r>Y The Board of Management, as the result of a telephone canvas of the members of the Board (in lieu of a regular meeting in February) has decided to hold its annual Sidewalk Sale, on July 19, 20, and 21, 1984. On this occasion it was decided that on Thursday and Friday that Temperance Street should be closed to accomodate the amuse- ment rides; from King Street south to the edge of the St. John' church property. Then, on Saturday, July 21, it was agreed, based on the very posi- tive results from last year, that King Street from the west side of Division Street to the east side of Scugog Road; and Temperance Street from the Post Office south to the edge of the St. John's church property, be closed from 6 a. m. until 3 a. m. (9 hours). A 17 foot -wide route will be left unobstructed for use by emergency vehicles between Division Street and Scugog Road. Again, special arrangements of a one -way nature will be made from Division Street along King Street to Brock's Service Centre. Park- ing will be available in the new off - street parking lots, and on the side streets. As a result, it is proposed that there be no parking on King Street (only) from George Street to Scugog Road duxi:ns the three -day period of the sale. In recognition of the extra time required when both local and Prov- incial permission is needed, we would urge you to pursue this matter at the earliest possible date. Please keep us informed of the developments in this regard, as this proposal progresses. Yours very truly Garth Gilpin Business Manager
