REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND
ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING, OF MARCH 18, 1985
REPORT # CS -04 -85
SUBJECT: "SPEED SPORT SHOW" - ORONO PARK
RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That the request of Show Associates be approved upon
agreeing to the following conditions:
a) Special Event Insurance be purchased with a minimum
of $1,000,000. coverage for 3rd party liability;
b) Security must be provided for the event by Show
Associates in the area designated for the consump-
tion of alcoholic beverages;
c) A Liquor Licence must be issued for the event;
d) That Public Health Regulations are met,where food
is being served;
e) That Show Associates produce a Bond to the Town of
Newcastle in the amount of $500.00 to cover any
damages or additional clean -up of the area used; and
3. That Council authorize the Town Clerk to forward a letter
of approval for the event to be held in Orono Park
Saturday, July 6, 1985.
BACKGROUND & COMMENT:
A request for use of the Orono Park to hold a special event, sponsored by the
Toronto Speed Sport Show was received.

In conversation with Mr. Al Bernard, a member of the sponsoring agency, it
was noted that alcohol and food would be served (please see attachment).
As in any event of this nature, the Municipality has concerns which must
be addressed prior to issuing its approval. These concerns are addressed in
recommendation #2 above.
Department staff have no difficulty in providing the facility and services
required for the event, subsequent to the Municipalities conditions being
met.
