By -Law # MEE(IpC: General Purpose and Administration Committee DATE: JULY 7, 1986 REPORT #: CS -44 -86 FILE #: SUBJECT: MUNICIPAL PROPERTY - ORONO VILLAGE WEST OF MAIN STREET AND MILL STREET JUNCTION RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: - l. That Report CS -44 -86 be received for information. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: A request was made of staff to investigate an area of land owned by the municipality located on the west side of Main Street at the junction of Main and Mill in the Village of Orono. Upon inspection, it was noted that this was the site of a former furniture factory which has since been abandoned. The remains of the foundation and an old cistern offered an inviting and very dangerous area for children of the neighborhood to play in. Mr. Brian Hancock of the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority was contacted as the site is located in a valley very near the flood plain and it was staff's intention to have the area back - filled to alleviate the problem (see attached). Adjacent land owners were also contacted, made aware of our findings and agreed with our decision to fill the area. Staff have contacted Seigmiller Construction and arrangements have been made to have excess fill from the 115 Highway construction placed in the area in question. Respectfully submitted, Joseph P.
