TOWN OF NEWCASTLE MEETING: General Purpose and Administration Committee DATE: MARCH 17, 1986 RFPORT #: CS -19 -86 FILE #: SUB.ECT: CORPS D'ELITE ONTARIO - VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION PROGRAM RECOMMENDATIONS: (jI,;(J) File # ,. f l.' Res. By -Law # It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: - 1. That Report CS -19 -86 be received; and 2. That the "Corps D'Elite Ontario" brochure be received for information. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: In reviewing the promotional information on the Corps D'Elite Ontario program we find two categories of recognition. The criteria has been duplicated for committee information. The program of recognition is for individuals that have contributed to the field of RECREATION well beyond our local municipality. In reviewing all the nominations for citizens of the year last year I have not found any individuals who would qualify for either the Regional or Provincial nomination. Employees in the Recreation field may also qualify for nomination. It is inappropriate for myself to submit nominations of staff for this program. However, Council may wish to consider present or past staff for nomination. Respectfully submitted, an Devantier, R. .M.R., irector Department of Community Services Corps dThte Ontario General Information The Minister of Tourism and Recreation is pleased to introduce Corps d'Elite Ontario, a program which has been designed to acknowledge those Ontario residents whose voluntary efforts have had a significant impact on the development of recreation in this province.
