SUBJECT:
CANADA WORKS PROJECT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following: -
1. That report CS -16 -86 be received for information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
In co- operation with the Darlington Provincial Park, our department has submitted an
application for a Canada Works Project for 1986.
The application for eleven (11) jobs with a total of 268 work weeks has been
submitted to Employment and Immigration Canada.
The project is worth a total of $119,513. and if approved would be totally funded
(100 %) by the Federal Government Canada Works program.
One project worker will perform clerical duties related to the administration of the
project.

The projects proposed are as follows:
Darlington Provincial Park
• prepare site and construct a creative playground at the park
• landscape at playground site
• Strip, repair and re- shingle comfort station
• repair and paint picnic tables
• upgrade 3/4 mile fitness /self guiding trail
Town of Newcastle Community Services Department
• repair, paint and assemble picnic tables
• park trail identification and maintenance at Orono Park

This is another example of co- operative programming with other government agencies
and we are looking forward to a beneficial project to both our organizations.
