ARENA & OTHER RENTAL RATES FOR 1986 AND 1987
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following: -
1. That report CS -13 -86 be received; and
2. That the proposed facility rental rates be approved as presented in
schedule A attached.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
Arenas
Previously the rental rates for our arenas were presented as part of the budget
deliberations. It is our intention as with all other facility rental rates, to present
rate changes in February of each year for the following calendar year.
It is also proposed that rates be effective for the calendar year as opposed to the ice
season. This will make budgeting easier administratively and will not effect the user
groups since rate changes will be set a year in advance. These proposed rates will be
in effect from this fall until December 31st, 1987.
Attached please find a survey of facility rental rates for surrounding municipal
arenas.

Non Prime Time Fees

Minimal use is being made of our non prime time ice. Other arenas have at least a
$10.00 /hr. difference between non prime and prime time rates.
It is therefore proposed that we lower rates to $47.00 /hr. to attract more users.
School Board and Minor Sports
The rates for these groups will be addressed as part of the user fee policy.
Floor Rentals
Our floor rental rates are 'too low as per the attached survey and are proposed to be
adjusted as follows:
Daily /Regular Daily with Liquor Permit Hourly /Regular
Current Rate $201.00 $306.00 $22.00
Proposed Rate $400.00 $400.00 $24.00
Ball Diamonds & Soccer Fields
Currently a booking fee of $2.00 /game is charged. This fee is charged for adults on
all scheduled diamonds. It is difficult to impose a true use fee policy on either ball
diamonds or soccer fields due to a substandard quality of facilities currently
provided. However, until the user fee policy dictates otherwise and -the quality of
facilities improve it is recommended that permit fees as opposed to user fees, be
continued for 1986 and 1987 and that the fee increase from $2.00 to $3.00 per permit
per game.
It is also proposed that a daily tournament rate be charged for the use of
diamonds daily as follows:
- lighted $50.00 per diamond per day
- unlighted $35.00 per diamond per day
