HomeMy WebLinkAboutCS-40-89TOWN OF NEWCASTLE REPORT File # , Res. # By -Law # MEETING: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION DATE: NOVEMBER 6, 1989 REPORT 1: CS -40 -89 FILE #: 9 1 GOVERNMENT GRANTS WORKSHOP RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose & Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:- 1. That Report No. CS -40 -89 be received for information. 1.0 BACKGROUND: 1.1 The Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board in conjunction with the Department of Community Services is sponsoring a 'Government Grants Workshop' for volunteer organizations. The Workshop is being held November 15, 1989 (7:00 - 9:00 p.m.) at the Bowmanville Recreation Complex. 1.2 Details of the Workshop are outlined in the brochure attached (Schedule I) . This brochure has been sent to over two - hundred volunteer organizations within the Town of Newcastle including sports, recreational, and cultural groups. 1.3 The revised municipal grant policy and application form as approved recently by Council will be explained to participants of the Workshop by the Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board members. Also, consultants from the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation as well as the Ministry of Culture and communication will be presenting their respective programs. 911 ..12 REPORT NO. Further, recent changes to the Municipal Grant Policy and application form will be explained. If your organization is always looking for money - this workshop is for you. Any volunteer group involved in providing recreational and or cultural opportunities to the public through services or facilities is welcome to attend. More than one person from each organization is encouraged to attend in order to learn more about each program explained.
