It is respectfully recommended that the G
recommend to Council the following: -
1. That Report CS -31 -86 be received for information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
For follow -up to the Grants Workshop held in May, a Fundraising Workshop has been
planned for volunteer recreational and cultural organizations. Hosted by the
Department of Community Services and sponsored by the N.C.S.A.B. This workshop will
be held Wednesday, October 7, 1987 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Courtroom #1, Fire
Building.
Invitations in brochure format (attachment) were sent to over 160 organizations
including Hall Boards, Services Clubs, Sports, Arts and Cultural Groups, Neighborhood
Associations, Museum and Library Boards. The brochure outlines details of the
workshop, and the facilitator Mr. Greg Burns, as well as registration information.
Press releases were also sent out to local papers. To date over sixty individuals
representing thirty organizations have registered. An open invitation is also
extended to the Mayor and Members of Council.

supplemented.
WHO SHOULD ATTEN
If your organization is always
looking for money - this session
is a must! Also, if your group is
tired of the same old fundraising
events here's a chance to get some
fresh ideas. Any volunteer
organization involved in providing
recreational and /or cultural
opportunities to the public
through services or facilities is
welcome to attend.

in order to handle the various
workshops and.seminars he
conducts, Greg is also the
Director of Recreation for the
City of Cambridge.
Greg's background in fundraising
comes from personal involvement
in raising money for pools,
arenas, playgrounds, churches,
art groups and the United Way.
Academically, Greg is a graduate
of the Revenue Sources Management
School at North Carolina State
University.
Over the last three years Greg
has been a dynamic and
informative speaker at over 30
workshops.
