CAPITAL GRANT REQUEST REGARDING THE NEW ARENA PROJECT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose &
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: -
l. That report # CS -38 -87 be received for information; and
2. That Council authorize staff to prepare and submit to the
Ministry of Tourism and Recreation, the Capital Grant Request
as it relates to the Multi- Purpose Facility portion of
the new Arena project.
BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:
It is a Ministry of Tourism and Recreation requirement that a resolution
of Council authorizing staff to apply for a Capital Grant under the
1988/89 New Recreation Facilities Program accompany each application.
As Members of Council are aware, the original Grant Application related
to the New Arena project was based on a single pad arena only. Since
that time, the scope of the project has changed to encompass a
Multi- Purpose Facility. It is staff's opinion that the Town is
eligible to apply for funding as it pertains to that portion of the
project.
