It is respectfully recommended that the Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board
receive this report for information and direction.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
The location and all speakers have been confirmed in writing for the Grants Workshop:
Part I being held on May 14, 1987 at the Bowmanville Lions Centre. The Board should
consider who will represent them for the Town of Newcastle Grants session. Also, the
speakers for the "Welcome" and "Wrap -Up" should be confirmed.
Brochures have been mailed out to Hall Boards, Service Clubs, Schools, Sports Groups,
Senior Citizens Groups, Y.W.C.A., Horticultural and business groups. A press release
has also been sent out to local papers. Expenses have increased slightly due to the
increased number of brochures printed as well as increased mailing costs.
For the Fundraising Workshop: Part II both Greg Burns and Ken Wyman have been
tentatively confirmed as speakers for October 14, 1987 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Information on Greg Burns is attached. Mr. Burns' fee will be $250.00 plus mileage.
Mr. Wyman has verbally confirmed a charge of $600.00. (Further information about Mr.
Wyman will be available as a handout at the meeting.) Both speakers are already
receiving bookings for the fall so one speaker should be definitely confirmed as soon
as possible. A location should also be booked in the near future.
