DATE: March 7, 1988
REPORT #: Cs -05 -88 FILE #:
TOWN -WIDE "FESTIVAL HARVEST" UPDATE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose &
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: -
1. That report no. CS -05 -88 be received for information.
BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:
The concept of a Town -wide special event was initiated by the
Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board. The intent of
this event is to provide an opportunity to promote our
community and to create a sense of pride and unity among the
diverse communities within the Town.
Public meetings facilitated by Community Services Department
and the NCSAB were held January 13th and February 10th to
determine public interest and to establish a Committee to
research and implement such an event. (Schedule I indicates
those individuals and organizations represented at these
meetings.) A great deal of interest and enthusiasm was
apparent at these meetings as well as through local papers.
