MUNICIPAL PARKS TOUR - 1989
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose &
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:-
1. That Report No. CS -09 -89 be received; and
2. That the 1989 Municipal Parks Tour be scheduled
for Friday, May 12th and Friday, May 19th, 1989; and
3. That Members of Council advise the Community Services
Department of any areas of concern or particular
interest prior to April 28th, 1989 to be included in
the itinerary of the Tour; and
4. That members of the Newcastle Community Services
Advisory Board be invited to attend.
BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:
At the March 17, 1989 meeting of the Parks Policy Committee the
Director of Community Services was requested to organize a bus
tour of municipal parks during the month of May for the purpose of
orientating Council to our parks system and further highlight
areas where capital projects and new development have been
established for the current year. It was also recommended that
members of the Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board also
be provided with the opportunity to attend.

The tour is to be split into two sessions the first on Friday,
May 12 covering Ward 1 and the second on Friday, May 19 covering
Wards 2 & 3. The bus will leave the Town Hall at 9:00 a.m.
returning at approximately 3:00 p.m. each day. Members of
Council are requested to confirm their attendance prior to April
28th and provide any specific areas they wish to have included in
the itinerary. Arrangements for lunch will be provided within
the schedule.
