That Report No. CS -19 -90 be received; 2. That the 1989 Municipal Parks Tour be scheduled for Friday, June 29, 1990; 3. That Members of the Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board, Department Heads and appropriate staff be invited to attend. 1.0 BACKGROUND: 1.1 It has been an annual event for some years to orient Council, the Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board and selected staff to the Town's "parks system ", highlight capital projects, new parks provided through the subdivision agreement and to review on site currant or potential issues. This orientation has taken the form of a parks bus tour. ../2 906 REPORT CS -19 -90 - 2 - JUNE 4, 1990 1.2 Traditionally the tour has attempted to visit nearly all park sites. With the addition of new parks in recent years the number of potential sites to visit has made itineraries difficult within acceptable time frames. Many park sites are familiar to Members of Council and staff propose to concentrate the tour in the areas where the most change is occurring, where the currant and potential issues most frequently occur and where the majority of new parks and facilities are located. 1.3 Our tentative itinerary (Attachment A) is provided for your perusal and input. Members of Council are requested to confirm their attendance and are encouraged to suggest other locations which you may want the tour to view by contacting the Community Services Department prior to Friday, June 15th. A final itinerary will be forwarded prior to the tour. Arrangements for lunch will be provided within the schedule. Respectfully submitted, Recommended for presentation to the Committee Jos 'h P.
