RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose &
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:-
1. That Report No. CS -25 -90 be received; and
2. That an Official Opening of the Northern Fire Station #5 be
scheduled for Monday, July 30, 1990.
1.0 BACKGROUND:
1.1 Gerr Construction Limited, the General Contractor of the
Northern Fire Station #5, has been working on the project
since January 1990.
1.2 The Community Services Department undertook project management
of this building and held regular site meetings and
discussions with the Contractor, Engineer and Town Officials
and various Regional agencies to effectively supervise the
project.
2.0 STATUS REPORT:
2.1 As of July 1, 1990, the building envelope is complete as
well as the flooring and interior services. The well was
drilled to a depth of 245' and the septic bed. was
constructed as per approved Health Regulations.

2.2 Landscaping and paving of the site is scheduled for completion
by mid July.
3.0 OFFICIAL OPENING:
3.1 The building will meet all municipal requirements and the Town
will be in a position to assume full occupancy near the end
of July.
3.2 Council may wish to officially inspect and inaugurate our new
building by means of an official opening. Staff is
recommending that the opening ceremonies be scheduled for
Monday, July 30, 1990 commencing at 1:00 p.m. Community
Services staff in conjunction iwth the Fire Department and
Mayor's office will prepare an iteinerary for the ceremonies
and forward information to Members of Council and the official
party in advance of the event.
3.3 If Members of Council wish to inspect the project prior to
the Official Opening, please feel free to contact Mr. Horvath
at extension 246 to make necessary arrangements.
