Interpretative Signage/QR Codes Project — Tom, Patrick — Tom advised that we are waiting for further information from Patrick concerning format of QR code " signs " and the best way to affix them. Brian will follow up with Patrick .Ken will investigate ways of mounting the " signs " that will be durable and relatively easy to install. A total of 8 will be needed at this point. 2. Traffic/Usage Survey— Brian/Kate — Kate has opted to wait until her meetings with the Waterfront Strategy group to better assess complementary action. Note: Kate will be our Committee's representative at the Visioning Exercise organized by the Waterfront Strategy group. 3. Treatment Plant/ Storm Drainage Pond Project — Ken has not heard anything further from those involved. Brian read out the email from Tony Ricciardi dated August 30t" and will follow up with Tony concerning the present status of the project. 4. Additional Monarch Waystation signage — Leah provided the final versions which will now be installed in the appropriate locations. Ken will ensure we have the appropriate number of U bars and the required bolts, washers and nuts. 5.Monarch Tagging Event — review and comments . Everyone agreed that despite the low numbers of monarchs tagged that day, the event was a big success — particularly from the standpoint of its educational value. We had approximately 125 members of the public in attendance, great weather, and good media coverage. The OPG tent for children's activities was a big hit. People appreciated the presence of a porta potty. Suggestions and ideas: > have an additional tent/shelter for activities or demonstrations. > Invite Don Davis and Carol Pasternak again > consider having a second smaller team of experienced persons tagging on the Cobbledick side in conjunction with the main event > do not use any of the " kids' nets > ensure mowing of the strip along Lakebreeze is completed in a timely fashion next spring to promote growth of our plantings. Ken advised that a new piece of equipment is on order which will allow this to be done properly > work with the mowing contractor to improve how general mowing is done in that area. The planting area has been encroached upon and some of the small trees have been damaged. Ken will address with the contractor 5. Newcastle Harvest Festival — October 1st. Brian advised that have registered. Kate has circulated a Doodle list to determine who is available to assist and at what times. At the moments, we require additional persons to cover, particularly in the afternoon. Brian will follow up with those who have not yet responded. 6. Calendar/Chart of Activities — Kate — no changes needed 6. Items 66 on hold 1. Butternut Tree Planting 2. Parking along Toronto Street/ gating to hydro corridor 7. Other Business: 1)Brian proposed that we change our regular meetings to Monday evenings to avoid conflicts that arise for some of our members. Ken advised that this may be problematic based on council committee meetings etc. but will investigate possibilities. It was agreed that we will hold our next 3 meetings on Monday evenings and reassess things after that. It was also suggested that we look at holding our meetings in Newcastle since most members of the Committee reside there. The Library or Hamre Centre were suggested. Ken will investigate. 2) Hybernaculem - still requires some maintenance and removal of brush etc. Ken will arrange through the forestry department. 3) Brian suggested that the municipal arborist might be someone we could have at a meeting to outline his role and see how we might work together. Ken will contact him. 8. Round Table - All Members - nil 9. Next Meeting - Monday October 10, 2022 Location TBD 10. Next Meeting - Monday, October 11, 2022, 7:00 p.m 11 .
