SUBJECT: CITY OF OSHAWA CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALK ON THE
WEST SIDE OF TOWNLINE ROAD BETWEEN ADELAIDE
AVENUE AND THE KINGSWAY VILLAGE SHOPPING MALL.

It is respectfully recommended
1. That this report be received; and,
2. That the City of Oshawa be advised that the Town of
Newcastle has no objection -to the construction of a
sidewalk on the west side of Townline Road from the
Kingsway Village Shopping Mall to Adelaide Avenue
East, subject to a clear understanding that the Town
will not be required to contribute to the capital or
maintenance cost of such sidewalk.

REPORT:
The question of a sidewalk at the subject location was
considered by Members of Council in May, 1983, in Report
WD- 49 -83, attached hereto.
In summary, there is no reason for the Town to oppose the
sidewalk construction, provided that the considerations
dealt with in the May, 1983, Report are adequately dealt
with. The resolution in this report covers the situation
adequately.
