The Municipality of Clarington appoints advisory committees. They are
• Accessibility Advisory Committee;
• Samuel Wilmot Nature Area Management Advisory Committee;
• Heritage Advisory Committee; and
• Agricultural Advisory Committee
The Agricultural Advisory Committee was first started in 2001. This is a volunteer advisory
committee established by the Municipality of Clarington to assist in it's efforts to identify, review,
discuss and make recommendations to Council on agriculture and agricultural related issues.

Meeting minutes are sent in draft form to the Municipal Clerk to be included in the next available
Council Agenda. Minutes are posted to the web site after committee approval.
Resolutions by the Committee are forwarded to the Clerk for inclusion in the Council Agenda.

Pesticides issues and noxious weeds including enforcement issues (fence lines, ditches).
Monitoring and commenting on Official Plan Review as it relates to Countryside/Rural, including
Value-added for agriculture, farm markets and agri-tourism, urban/rural buffers.
Council Referrals — Fence Viewers/By-law
Faye provided a brief overview of the report from Clerk's Department on the elimination of
Fence Viewers and the implementation of a by-law that sets a standard for the fence
construction. After discussion, where the elimination of fence viewers was not deemed an issue
but rather that the new standard does not address agriculture abutting agriculture lands and

agriculture abutting residential lands where the standard would be different than that included in
the draft by-law.
John Cartwright volunteered to meet with By-law with Faye to work out the issues and provide
alternatives. Once that has occurred and the by-law has been updated Faye will circulate to
committee with the date of when it will go back to Council.
