REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 17, 1984.
REPORT NO.: WD -75 -84
SUBJECT: RESOLUTION GPA- 861 -84
BRIDGE OVER HIGHWAY 115.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1® That this report be received; and,
2. That a request be made to the Director - Central
Region, Ministry of Transportation and Communications,
for information on the history of the bridge presently
being constructed over Highway 35/115, between Highway
2 and Highway 401, (Lovekin), and any obligations for
maintenance of said bridge by the Town of Newcastle,
which the Ministry may foresee.

REPORT:
A question has arisen with respect to the history, status
and maintenance requirements of the Town for the subject
bridge. With respect to the history and status of the
bridge, many departments at M.T.C. have been involved and
therefore any account prepared by the Works Department in
this regard could be eroneous. Documentation by the
Ministry would be more appropriate and would hopefully
provide the whole story. In any event, Town staff have not
been privy to any discussions to -date.
With respect to maintenance, again there have been no
discussions with Town staff, and an indication from the
Ministry of their expectations, would be appropriate. Until
the above information is provided by M.T.C., and discussions
have taken place regarding maintenance obligation, it is
assumed that the Town has no responsibility in the matter.
